We teach mainly in Ontario and in British Columbia but are happy to travel to a location near you for a custom course.

WINTER COURSES
AST Level 1
-
2-day course focused on the basics of avalanche awareness and gear familiarization. Classroom sessions paired with in the field practical scenarios and terrain assessment create a well-rounded course.
AST Level 2
-
4-day course expanding on the basics taught in the AST 1 course. The focus is on back country trip planning and travel, terrain assessment, hazard awareness and avalanche safety.
Paddle Canada is Canada's National Certification Body for canoe, kayak, SUP, and sea kayak. It advocates for our rivers and encourages Canadians to become knowledgeable about the safety and skills for each craft.
All of our canoe and kayak skills courses are taught by certified Paddle Canada instructors.
Looking to become an instructor? CanoeKayak Canada is the National certifying body for kayak instructors, as well as supporting our competitive kayak athletes in International competition. Paddle Canada certifies canoe instructors at the introduction, intermediate and advanced levels.
Offering rescue courses for recreational river users as well as professional level courses, Boreal River Rescue runs 2 and 4 day programs, or custom courses to refresh your skills, challenge your whitewater knowledge and help you become a better river user. Boreal also runs multi-day rafting trips on the Magpie River, and is active with the indigenous communities in that region.
Our AST instructors are professional members of the Canadian Avalanche Association, or CAA. The CAA runs professional level avalanche certification for industry members, including ski patrollers and ski guides.
Avalanche Canada is the National body responsible for public avalanche safety. Through courses for the public, and online public avalanche bulletins, and National awareness days, among other programs, Avalanche Canada is an important member of avalanche safety in Canada.
